Suburban Sarah’s Inn plays pivotal role in domestic violence advocacy
“Since 2019 calls to the Illinois Domestic Violence Hotline have more than doubled, and intimate partner violence impacts 12 million women and men each year in the U.S.
For the past 45 years Sarah’s Inn has been at the forefront of domestic violence advocacy, serving more than 20,000 people each year in Chicago and the western suburbs.
‘Really it didn’t become illegal to be abusive to your spouse until the mid 70s, so when you think about it we’ve been around long time but also a brief amount of time,’ said executive director Carol Gall. ‘We have come a long, long way but the reality is we still have a long way to go.'”
