This series will be particularly relevant to social service and other professionals who may encounter domestic violence (DV) in their work and are seeking to better understand the dynamics of DV and the options available. Participants can register for individual sessions or for all four for a discounted rate. CEUs will be provided.
Session 1: Crisis of Masculinity: Men, Domestic Violence, and Building Allies for Change
- Friday, May 9th, 10am – 12pm
- Summary: How can we inspire men who have never perpetrated or experienced abuse to become active allies in domestic violence prevention? Participants will examine key myths and realities about engaging men in prevention, understanding how traditional gender norms and societal expectations shape attitudes toward violence. We’ll explore the intersections of masculinity, accountability, and allyship, equipping participants with tools to challenge harmful behaviors before they escalate. Whether working with youth, community leaders, or workplaces, attendees will pool their insights of how to motivate men to take an active stance in promoting safety and respect, with the ultimate goal of ending intimate partner violence.
