Therese's sister and mother welcomed participants at the registration table. Placed on the table is a picture of Therese Pender, the walk's namesake.
Sarah's Inn staff members and supporters model the t-shirt created for this year's event.
State Representative Elizabeth Hernandez shared her support for the walk and the importance of raising awareness and support for the issue of domestic violence.
Samantha Satterthwaite, Therese's neice, organized the walk to raise awareness and honor the memory of her aunt.
The walk began at Keystone Park in River Forest.
Participants walked through River Forest and past the home where Therese once lived.
The event was a great success thanks to the collaboration of many including Sarah's Inn board member Laura Vonderhaar (left), volunteer organizer Samantha Satterthwaite (middle), and Sarah's Inn Community Outreach and Education Manager Colleen Sutkus (right).
